This was beautiful and heartbreaking and also affirming. I don’t know you outside your letters, but if I did I like to think I could be the friend who would slow down and be on crip time with you. I’m neurodivergent and have experienced similar challenges in making and keeping community. I have a personal theory that social media has made connection more challenging for many folks, but particularly neurodivergent and disabled folks. I think there are many reasons, but the biggest one to me is that social media presents an alluring illusion of easy connection without having to do the messy work of adjusting to different life paces and experiences.
