Not Really Now Not Anymore After a decade of friendship and long distance musical collaboration, An Encounter With Broken Time is the first full length, collaborative album between Lowercase Noises’ Andy Othling and NAAL’s Dave Mantel. Recorded together in person in the summer heat of the New Mexican desert, the project began with the idea of crafting simple ideas, utilizing both artists’ signature guitar sounds and field recordings, then taking hardware and software samplers to recut and reframe new and old sounds to create something that is at once comfortable and adroit, familiar and surprising. The result is a collection of songs that takes the strengths of both artists- lush compositions, rich, worn textures- and places them in a context only achievable through the experimentation and collaboration of two seasoned artists.
