With respect, in the AI industry, the term "AGI" does in fact stand for "artificial general intelligence." This is distinguished from "Gen AI," which is short for generative artificial intelligence. Gen AI itself is different from other forms of AI, for example machine learning and expert systems. The LLMs like ChatGPT, etc., are all Gen AI, meaning they generate stuff--text, images, etc. They ARE NOT yet AGI, much as the hype artists (sorry, CEOs) of the companies like Open AI and Anthropic claim that it is just around the corner. True AGI, meaning an artificial version of the kind of general intelligence that humans possess, is unreachable via the current technical approaches available.
