I am still not feeling any romance from Elizabeth's point of view, only a reluctant and intense interest. However, Darcy is definitely nursing an unrequited crush. It's kind of cute (I say that because I know it would annoy that character greatly. I am sure he does not think of himself as remotely cute). I can see how Charlotte and Lizzie forged a friendship - they both love to figure things out although their reasoning often takes them to different places. Now, Charlotte, I understand perfectly. She felt she had no other reasonable options for getting her life out of second gear, so she grabbed the ring. I can see why it might appall Elizabeth but at 27 Charlotte had to be a practical realist. I know Mrs. Bennett is a fool but she is an often entertaining one, isn't she? And she is forthright, you have to give her that.
