I don’t think it’s necessarily about the lifting. It think it’s more nuanced like bodybuilding is not going to attract the same time of person/woman as kettlebell sport or CrossFit. I think the demo of who does CrossFit, for instance, has changed over 20 years so there’s also a temporal dimension. But here’s my quick and dirty answer: If you are a powerlifter or bodybuilding female/physique competitor I would bet that you would skew more to the right than you would if you did not participate but that doesn’t necessarily mean you would be a republican, just more right than you would have been. I find that many large and or strong people who play in these sports are usually pretty libertarian. They are highly agentic so it makes sense. If you are into Pilates, yoga, capoeira, you will skew more to the left as these make a tasty cocktail of UMC white affinity groups with exoticism and third worldism.
