Don’t panic, but it’s time to take action! For a few years it’s been a… | Jimmy Nilsson
Don’t panic, but it’s time to take action! For a few years it’s been a bit foggy for European organisations whether you could run your core domain systems in US clouds or not. I guess most realised it wasn’t really a good idea, but the convenience of staying has been high. And many seemed to consider the cost of moving to be higher than the risk it posed… Well, that fog has completely cleared up now. The risk has skyrocketed. The latest “indication” of that, to add to a ton of other recent ones, was that the US yesterday said no to a UN resolution that demanded Russia stop the horrific three-year full-scale invasion war against its neighbour Ukraine. In doing so, the US put themselves in the same camp as Russia, North Korea, Belarus and Hungary. Indication, eh? So, there’s no more fog. It’s actually a super crisp situation to take action in. I hear lots of organisations are in panic mode about how to deal with this. That’s why we (factor10) have decided to write more on this subject with the aim of helping people outside the narrow software development community. I will do my best to share some advice shortly, and I expect many more in our community will do the same. Just a final word for now: There is hope, so keep calm and prepare for action!
