Ras Al Khaimah: Government - Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi

His Highness Sheikh Saud has been named Supreme Council member and Ruler of Ras Al-Khaimah after the death of his father, His Highness Sheikh Saqr. Since 2003, Sheikh Saqr's ailing health resulted in Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi assuming the day-to-day running of the emirate. Sheikh Saud became Ruler on October 27, 2010. Sustained growth and wealth creation will continue as they have over the past six years under Sheikh Saud's rule, with GDP increasing by more than 50% between 2004 and 2007. Although RAK does not have the hydrocarbons abundance of some of its UAE neighbors and in the region, it has established itself as a robust economy with an increasingly diversified base that His Highness Sheikh Saud will continue to develop.
