A ★★ review of Bad Boys (1995)

Martin Lawrence and Will Smith provide some few-and-very-far-between laughs in this incoherent, aggressively mindless "action-comedy." Martin and Will are Miami cops out to bust Tcheky Karyo, who stole $100 million worth of heroin from the police evidence room. The script rather desperately requires them to switch identities so that a witness (the bored-looking Tea Leoni) will cooperate. Fans of Lawrence (I'm not) and/or Smith (I am) are expected to be beside themselves with guffaws as the two stars play against their personae — Will plays a swinging bachelor, Martin a family man — but the identity-switch puts them back in
