Getting hot while you sleep is very normal and is something many people experience on a nightly basis. As a matter of fact, according to research conducted by Gallup and Casper, 57% of Americans sleep too hot at least occasionally, as opposed to 37% who sleep too cold. The ideal temperature for sleep is between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperature gets higher than this, it makes it very difficult to fall asleep. Falling into a deep sleep is associated with cool body temperatures and being too hot can hurt your ability to fall and stay asleep. In fact, when asked about the main reasons behind their latest poor night’s sleep, 22% of the people surveyed pointed to overheating as a key factor. This was the third most frequent answer, following bathroom visits (43%) and physical discomfort (29%).
